WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men's soccer goalkeeper Giannis Nikopolodis was selected by the New York Red Bulls with the 71st overall selection of the 2022 Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft on Tuesday. Nikopolidis was the 15th pick of the third round.

- Earned United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-East Region honors as a senior while also being named Third Team All-BIG EAST.
- Started 15 games for the Hoyas with 27 saves and a 0.86 goals-against average as well as six shutouts to his credit.
- Held a 12-2-1 record in the net as a senior.
- In his career on the Hilltop, he started in 56 games and posted a 0.69 goals-against average as well as a 0.800 save percentage.
- Nikopolidis went 39-10-3 in the net with 156 saves to his credit.
- The keeper was a United Soccer Coaches First Team All-America honoree in 2020 and was the two-time BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year as well as a three-time All-BIG EAST selection.
- He sits second in program history with 25 career shutouts, while also ranking fourth in single-season clean sheets, posting eight in 2018
- In his time on the Hilltop, the Hoyas have advanced to four NCAA Tournaments, three-consecutive NCAA quarterfinals, two College Cups and won the 2019 NCAA Championship. Additionally, the squad won two regular season BIG EAST titles as well as three BIG EAST Championships.
- The classics major received his degree from Georgetown in December.
