WASHINGTON. – The Georgetown University women's basketball team lost 68-48 to the No. 25/24 St. John's University Red Storm on Saturday afternoon in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at McDonough Arena. With the defeat, the Blue & Gray drops to 8-6 overall and 1-4 in BIG EAST play.

How it Happened

• St. John's (13-0, 4-0 BIG EAST) jumped out to a quick lead, but the Hoyas would work it into the paint to cut it to two midway through the first on a pair of free throws from sophomore Ariel Jenkins.
• The Red Storm would hit late to lead 14-9 at the end of the first quarter.
• A layup from junior captain Kelsey Ransom began the second quarter, but the Red Storm answered with a 7-0 run to force a GU timeout.
• The Blue & Gray answered with two quick buckets, but another big run from St. John's put the Hoyas down 40-17 at the break.
• The Hoyas would continue to fight in the third, but even a 6-0 run was not enough to get the comeback going. GU would trail 50-32 at the end of the third.
• Despite battling down the stretch, Georgetown would not find the answer in the final period. The Hoyas eventually fell 68-48.

Of Note

• Ransom led the way with 13 points as the lone Hoya in double figures. She also managed team bests in rebounds, assists and blocks.
• The Hoyas shot 31.6% (18-57) from the field, while allowing 41.5% (22-53) shooting by the Red Storm.
• Georgetown forced 18 turnovers on 10 steals, but was outrebounded by SJU 43-32.
