WASHINGTON – Georgetown softball lost to Providence on Saturday afternoon in the second game of the two sides' three-game series. The Hoyas attempted a solid comeback, but the Friars were able to take the win with a single run to end the game 6-5. How It Happened
- Georgetown went up quickly in the first with four hits and three runs while Kayla Dunn denied Providence from getting any runs or hits.
- The Friars responded when Lauren Nunez scored from three walks and a passed ball that left the bases loaded (3-1).
- With bases still loaded in the second, Providence's Rachael Petrarca shot a double to left field to get three runs on the board to give PC the lead 4-3.
- GU went scoreless through the third and fourth innings.
- The Friars' Elysia Cunnigan crossed home in the fourth off a passed ball extending the team's lead 5-3.
- Mae Forshey slipped a driven ball down the left field line to get on second. Savannah Jones followed up with a popped ball to right field and Forshey displayed her pace to get across home (5-4).
- Pitcher Dunn knocked a ball to center field and Alyssa Chavez was signaled home from second to tie the game 5-5.
- Providence capitalized on a well struck ball to left, center field and brought in one final run to close the game 6-5.
