WASHINGTON – Director of Track & Field / Cross Country
Alton McKenzie announced the men's and women's schedules for the upcoming 2022 cross country season. The men and women will compete in seven meets during the 2022 campaign over the next three months.
" We're looking forward to another exciting year for both our Men & Women's XC Teams. 2021 saw an unprecedented occurrence with two XC Big East Championships being held in the same calendar year. We welcome the return to a regular schedule for 2022 and our Coaching Staff will ensure both teams are fully prepared to attain success. Both teams have returned seasoned campaigners and we've also made some major additions , so we're anticipating another run at post season successes late in the season for both programs."
Both teams will open the season on Saturday, September 3, in Richmond, Virginia, at the Richmond XC Festival, hosted by the University of Richmond . Two weeks after the Richmond XC Festival, both teams will travel to Bloomington, Indiana, for the Coaching Tree Invitational hosted by Indiana University.
Two weeks later, both teams will travel to Lehigh University for the Paul Short XC Invitational on Friday, September 30. The Hoyas' trip to Pennsylvania will be the first of two during the season, with the second trip coming on Friday, November 11, for the NCAA East Regional Championships. Both teams will round out the regular season on Friday, October 14, at the NuttyCombe Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin, as the Badgers will host the final regular season meet.
The end of October marks the start of the postseason, with both teams heading to the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships in Attleboro, Massachusetts. After, the Hoyas will move on to the NCAA East Regional Championships on November 11. The NCAA Championships will take place on Saturday, November 19, in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
