WASHINGTON – The Georgetown field hockey team fell 5-0 on the road against Appalachian State on Sunday afternoon. The Mountaineers were led by Pauline Mangold, who registered two goals on the afternoon.
How it Happened
- The Mountaineers opened the scoring in the first quarter when Pauline Mangold found the back of the net off the assist from Lise Boekaar.
- App State's second goal came from Bridget Donovan off an assist from Carli Ciocco, and the Mountaineers took a 2-0 lead into the second quarter.
- In the second quarter, App State continued to put pressure on the Hoyas, netting three goals.
- The second half was scoreless, and the Hoyas were unable to generate many chances registering one shot in the period.

The Hoyas have their home opener on Friday, September 2, as they take on Sacred Heart University at 1 p.m. The Blue & Gray will then host Queens University of Charlotte on Sunday at noon as a part of a two-game weekend series.
