Late Comeback Attempt Falls Short for Field Hockey in 3-2 Loss to Saint Francis (Pa.)

TOWSON, Md. – Georgetown University's field hockey's late onslaught came up just short in a 3-2 loss to visiting Saint Francis (Pa.) at the Towson Field Hockey Complex Sunday afternoon. The Hoyas fall to 1-10 on the season while the Red Flash improve to 6-5 overall.

Hoya Highlights How it Happened
  • Saint Francis got on the board first, scoring just 80 seconds into the contest.
  • The Hoyas evened things up with just 12 seconds remaining in the opening half as Towne fired home a shot courtesy of a nice feed in front of the keeper by Trumpbour.
  • The Red Flash retook the lead with just 1:20 to go in the third quarter off of a penalty corner and pushed their advantage to 3-1 with just over five minutes to play in the game.
  • Not willing to concede, the Hoyas battled back and pulled within one after Trumpbour stole the ball near midfield and scored on a give-and-go from Towne with 54 seconds to go.
  • In the final minute, Georgetown had a pair of attempts thwarted by the Red Flash defense and couldn't find the equalizer.
Saint Francis Notes
  • Dolores Zavaleta had a goal and an assist to lead the Red Flash.
  • Julia Breneman and Olivia Muffitt both scored as well while Marie Sattler had two assists.
  • Amber Bryan had four saves in the win.
