BOSTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team defeated the Boston University Terriers 69-61 on Wednesday afternoon at Case Gymnasium in Boston, Massachusetts. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 3-3 on the season, while the Terriers drop to 2-3 on the year.

Head Coach Darnell HaneyÂ
- "This was a good win for us, it was good to have bodies back! I thought Jaden McBride and Khadee Hession were key, especially since they keyed in on Kelsey (Ransom). Ariel Jenkins also had a solid game especially going 6-6 at the line. In all, today was a win we can learn from. We have to make sure to take care of business and get stops when needed. Today, we got those stops and I'm proud of our group for that."
How it Happened
- Senior Ariel Jenkins was dominant in the paint early on as she led the Hoyas to a 16-6 lead.
- The Terriers found a way back from downtown as BU staged an 11-2 run to close out the first quarter.
- At the end of the first 10 minutes, the Blue & Gray held the narrow 18-17 lead.
- BU would take the lead on the first bucket of the second quarter, but GU answered back.
- Midway through the quarter, a 9-0 run which included seven points from freshman Jayden McBride, forced a Terrier timeout as the Hoyas led by eight.
- McBride powered the second quarter as the Hoyas held on despite a BU layup at the buzzer to have the 31-26 advantage at the break.
- A BU triple tied the contest at 31 early in the third quarter, but McBride's three-point play sparked an 11-2 run including back to back 3-pointers from freshman Khadee Hession and junior Victoria Rivera as GU was cruising.
- Even a late triple from the Terriers could not stop Georgetown as the Blue & Gray led 56-49 after three.
- The Terriers would not go away and kept it a two-possession game for much of the fourth quarter.
- With under three minutes to play, a BU free throw pulled the Terriers within three. However, Jenkins and graduate student Kelsey Ransom connected on the high low and McBride knocked down a triple in the corner to give the Blue & Gray some breathing room.
- The Hoyas would hold on for the 69-61 victory.
Of Note
- McBride led the Hoyas with a career-high 18 points to go along with five rebounds and three steals.
- Jenkins managed 16 points and a squad-best eight boards.
- Rivera and Hession rounded out those in double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
- The Blue & Gray shot 46.3% (25-54) from the field, and allowed the Terriers 46.8% (22-47) shooting.
- GU outrebounded BU, 34-23, and forced 18 Terrier turnovers on 13 steals.
- Alex Giannaros scored 24 points to lead the two Terriers in double figures.
