WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's rowing second varsity eight boat was named Patriot League Boat of the Week Honorable Mention, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon. This is the first boat of the week award of the season for the league.
On Sunday, the annual George's Cup race against George Mason and George Washington started with the Blue & Gray finishing in first place with a time of 7:18.6 to defeat GW (7:23.8) and GMU (8:09.4). The Blue & Gray came off of the line down off of the start, and managed to reset and take seats in the first 1,000m. This was followed by close racing throughout the second 1,000m before walking away in the last 500m for the victory.
The first-place finish helped the Hoyas to a second-place overall showing due to tiebreaking procedures.
