Hoyas Host Sacred Heart on Tuesday

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will return home to host the Sacred Heart University Pioneers on Tuesday evening at McDonough Arena. The opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on the ESPN+ with Monika Moore and Martin Bahar on the call.

  • New this season, the BIG EAST Conference has partnered with ESPN to broadcast more than 75 women's basketball games on ESPN+.
  • All home Georgetown women's basketball contests that are not broadcast on linear television will be available on ESPN+.

About the Hoyas
  • Despite leading by as much as 14, the Hoyas (1-2) fell 61-54 in overtime at George Mason on Friday evening.
  • Graduate student Laila Jewett led the way as one of three Hoyas in double figures with 13 points and four assists.
  • Junior Cristen Carter managed her first double-double in a Hoya uniform with 11 points as well as a squad-best 12 boards.
  • Rounding out the top scorers was sophomore Summer Davis who had a double-double as well with 10 points and as many rebounds in the contest.
  • Senior Victoria Rivera earned BIG EAST Conference Honorable Mention Preseason honors at the league's annual women's basketball media day held at Madison Square Garden in New York.
  • The Hoyas were also picked to finish seventh in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, receiving 48 points.
  • The Blue & Gray brought in eight newcomers with seven transfers and one true freshman in Braelynn Barnett.
  • The transfers include Destiny Agubata (West Virginia), Brianna Byars (Cincinnati), Cristen Carter (Butler), Indya Davis (Georgia), Summer Davis (Georgia), Jewett (Central Florida) and Miller (East Carolina).
About the Pioneers
  • Sacred Heart is 1-2 on the season, but coming off of a 74-64 victory over Central Connecticut State on Thursday evening.
  • Sophie Nascimento was named MAAC Rookie of the Week after she finished the CCSU game with 15 points, two assists and a steal.
  • Amelia Wood was selected to the Preseason All-MAAC Third Team.
  • The Pioneers were picked to finish 12th in the MAAC.
