WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's rowing team claimed second place among a field of nine teams this Friday at the 2025 Patriot League Championship, with the 2V8 claiming victory in grand finals amid a highly competitive field. Georgetown earned runner-up team honors for the first time since joining the Patriot League in 2014.
The incredible performance today was highlighted by the program's first-ever first-place finish in an eight and the first time the squad has medaled in three events.
"We are extremely proud of the program's performance today! Each boat and every team member made this 2nd place finish possible. To see the growth over this season has been such a fun opportunity for me as a coach. The team has been pushed and challenged to level up and, today, they put it all out on the race course to do something that has never been done by any other Georgetown Women's Rowing team at the Patriot League Championships. This is a big step for the program and we can't wait to see how we continue to grow. Thank you to everyone that has been in our corner this season. From the alumni, to the administration, to our families, to the staff and students, this was made possible because of your unwavering support. A huge congratulations to all of our seniors - they're hard work, grit, resiliency, and dedication has made this team better and they have left a legacy that will impact the program for years to come." - Head Coach Kendall Mulligan
