How it Happened

  • Both starting pitchers began the game strong. Hager put together a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the first before DePaul's pitcher retired the Hoyas in order in the bottom of the first.
  • In the top of the second, the Blue Demons threatened with a single and a walk, but Hager was able to force weak contact with a pop-up to second base for the final out of the inning. In the bottom of the inning, the Hoyas would put two runners on courtesy of a Fenton single and Campos walk, but were unable to drive them in.
  • In the third, Wissmar entered in relief for Hager and got into and out of trouble. After putting runners on first and second with no one out, Wissmar retired the next three batters to keep the Blue Demons off the board. In the bottom of the third, DePaul put up another zero, as the score held at 0-0 heading into the fourth.
  • After another scoreless frame from Wissmar, the Hoyas would break out the bats. Strittmatter started the rally with a bullet down the left field line for a double before Pardini drove in Strittmatter with an RBI single to left field to give the Hoyas an early 1-0 lead. After a hit through the left side and a stolen base from Kozo, Campos stepped up to the dish and roped an RBI single to the shortstop to score Pardini, extending the lead to 2-0.
  • In the fifth, Dunn entered in relief for Wissmar and threw a shutdown inning. In the bottom of the frame, the Hoyas would add insurance. A Turner single and stolen base would be scored by Strittmatter, who roped an RBI single to left field to grow the lead to 3-0.
  • After a scoreless sixth from both sides, Dunn would stay in the game to try and earn the save. Despite DePaul loading the bases with two outs, Dunn was able to get a ground ball to third base for the third out, securing a 3-0 shutout victory on senior day.

  • Pardini threw out her 13th runner of the season, a mark that leads all catchers in the conference.
  • Turner stole her 11th base of the season and the 41st of her collegiate career. Her 41 stolen bases rank fourth all-time.
  • With five strikeouts in today's win, Dunn has tallied 369 strikeouts in her collegiate career, which ranks fourth all-time.
