Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hoyas Down Seton Hall, 4-0

WASHINGTON – The No. 3/3 Georgetown University men's soccer team once again used a flurry of goals to pick up the 4-0 victory over the Seton Hall University Pirates on Friday evening at Shaw Field in Washington, D.C. With the BIG EAST Conference win, the Hoyas improve to 11-1-1 overall and 5-0-0 in the league, while the Pirates drop to 3-3-6 for the season and 1-1-2 in conference play.

Head Coach Brian Wiese
  • "The challenge today was playing a Seton Hall team that is incredibly hard to score against. They'd only conceded eight goals coming into today, so getting an early lead was going to be important; not settling for 1-0 was really good to see. To get the three goals in the first half was incredible for us, and it was a harder game than the scoreline indicated. Seton Hall came out and did a really good job running the game for the first 10 or 15 minutes, making it hard for us, but the guys persevered again and now we'll get ready for a quick turnaround for the next one on Monday."
How it Happened
  • The Hoyas got on the board early as junior Mitchell Baker rushed the SHU keeper. The ball ricocheted to freshman Terrance Reynolds who fired to the far post to make it 1-0 in the 12th minute.
  • A corner kick from junior David Urrutia in the 28th minute went to Eric Howard at the top of the box. The senior took two touches and fired to double the score.
  • Howard was on the other end of the goal in the 31st minute, when he dribbled through traffic at the top of the box and hit a back heel to classmate Matthew Van Horn. The midfielder fired past the keeper as GU led 3-0 at the half.
  • Georgetown started the second half just like the first when a bad Pirate giveaway at the top of the box allowed sophomore Noah Satriano to gain possession and pass it to classmate Casey Milliken giving the Hoyas the 4-0 advantage.
  • As the storms rolled in, the Hoyas held on for the 4-0 victory.
Of Note
  • Georgetown outshot Seton Hall 15-5 and had seven shots on goal to the Pirates' two.
  • The Hoyas managed four corners in the game, while Seton Hall tallied one.
  • DeMarco took the win and the shutout with two saves to his credit.
  • Milliken's goal was the first of his career.
