WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team lost 67-59 to the Marquette University Golden Eagles on Sunday evening in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at McDonough Arena. With the loss, the Hoyas drop to 12-10 overall and 5-8 in BIG EAST play, while the Golden Eagles improve to 15-7 and 9-4 in league action.

- "We did not start today out the right way. We didn't play Georgetown defense at all. In spurts we did, but we just have to do a better job of being consistent and rebounding like we need to. Marquette imposed their will on every aspect of the game today, and I'm not happy with our performance and our sense of urgency coming out."
How it Happened
- After an early lead, Marquette staged a 13-3 run to take the nine-point advantage into the final two minutes of action in the first.
- A free throw from sophomore Destiny Agubata would make it 16-8 after one.
- The squads traded points through the first few minutes of the second quarter, and Marquette would lead by as much as 14.
- A fastbreak layup from sophomore Summer Davis sparked a 13-2 Hoya run including seven points from Davis as GU made it a one-possession game.
- In the final seconds of the half, sophomore Khadee Hession had the ball knocked loose on the baseline, she managed to control and shot before the buzzer making it 31-27 at the half.
- The Blue & Gray continued to chip away at the lead in the second half with an early 7-2 run to pull within one.
- Marquette scored nine quick points, and it resulted in a 17-2 run as the MU lead ballooned to as much as 16.
- Three late free throws from junior Khia Miller put the Blue & Gray down 52-39 at the end of the third.
- Georgetown did not give up in the final stanza as the squad put together a 9-2 run to cut it to 10.
- Despite the late effort from Hession, the Hoyas could not find the answer, eventually falling 67-59.
Of Note
- Hession led the way with 20 points, while Agubata added 11 and Davis had 10.
- Hession also had four steals in the contest and the combo of Agubata and Miller combined for 10 rebounds.
- The Blue & Gray shot 37.7% (20-53) from the field, and allowed 54.3% (25-46) shooting by Marquette.
- The Hoyas were outrebounded by the Golden Eagles 35-25, and GU forced 23 MU turnovers on 11 steals.
- Lee Volker led the way for Marquette with 22 points as one of four Golden Eagles in double figures.
