Tennis Programs Set for Busy Four-Match Weekend Schedule

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's men's and women's tennis teams are set to compete in a combined four matches this weekend. Women's tennis heads to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland on Friday for a match against Towson before facing off against Navy on Saturday. The men begin a two-match road trip in New Jersey on Saturday against NJIT and then wrap up the weekend against Princeton on Sunday.

About Georgetown Women's Tennis
  • The Hoyas (2-2, 1-1 BE) opened BIG EAST play two weekends ago, splitting their matches against DePaul and Marquette.
  • Georgetown lost 4-3 to the Blue Demons on February 7 but secured its first conference win with a 6-1 victory over the Golden Eagles on February 8, fueled by a perfect 6-0 record in singles.
  • Emily Novikov won her first No.1 singles match of the spring, defeating Marquette's Elise Barnstedt in straight sets 6-1, 6-4.
  • Sophomore Carolyn Schaefer secured her first singles win of the spring by defeating Marquette's Elena Duva in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.
  • The trio of Ruhika Bhat, Julio Chu and Katie Garofolo-Ro each boast a 3-1 record in singles matches this season.
 
About Georgetown Men's Tennis 
  • The Hoyas dropped to 1-4 on the season after falling 5-2 to Bucknell on Friday and 7-0 to Penn State on Saturday.
  • Joshua Lamm-Bocharov and Jacob Mann secured the two points for the Hoyas against Bucknell.
  • Mann currently holds a 2-0 record in singles matches this spring.
