WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's women's openweight rowing team returned to the water on Saturday, March 28, for a full day of competitive racing at the Temple Invitational on the Schuylkill River. Facing a challenging 13 mph northwest cross-tail wind and strong gusts, the Hoyas tested their speed against a deep regional field across two sessions of racing.
The morning session was highlighted by a standout performance from the First Varsity Four, who narrowly missed the top spot with a time of 7:20.50, finishing less than a second behind Navy. In the afternoon, the Second Varsity Four claimed a definitive victory, crossing the line in 7:35.1 to lead their heat. The First Varsity Eight remained consistent throughout the day, improving their time to 6:34.4 in the afternoon for a second-place finish.
During the afternoon Second Varsity Eight race, the Georgetown boat was forced to scratch following a collision. A Delaware shell went off course after its equipment became caught on a line, resulting in a collision with the Hoya boat.
