Hoyas Host St. John’s, DePaul and UConn in Three-Match BIG EAST Homestand

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's tennis programs are set for a trio of BIG EAST matches this week at the Junior Tennis Champions Center in College Park, Maryland. Men's tennis will host St. John's University on Wednesday and DePaul University on Friday, while women's tennis faces off against the University of Connecticut on Thursday.
 
About Georgetown Men's Tennis
  • Georgetown (5-12, 2-1 BE) is coming off back-to-back victories after edging Loyola Maryand 4-3 on Thursday and picking up its first sweep of the season in a 7-0 victory over Saint Joseph's on Sunday. With the pair of wins, the Hoyas have now won four out of their last five matches.
  • James O'Sullivan earned the BIG EAST Men's Player of the Week award on Monday after posting a 2-0 record in No. 1 and No. 2 singles while clinching the victories for GU.
  • Burke Pablo and J. O'Sullivan were named the BIG EAST Men's Doubles Team of the Week for their No. 1 doubles win over Loyola's Nick Lawliss and Ryan Gill to help the Hoyas secure the doubles point in the win.
  • Joshua Lamm-Bocharov continues to lead Georgetown in singles wins with eight, holding an 8-6 overall record, including a 3-0 mark in conference action.
  • J. O'Sullivan led GU with seven doubles wins, followed by Lamm-Bocharov with six.
 
About Georgetown Women's Tennis
  • The Hoyas (5-8, 2-2 BE) split their conference matches against Seton Hall and St. John's over the weekend, pulling off a 7-0 sweep over the Pirates before falling 4-2 to the Red Storm. The Blue & Gray wrapped up the weekend with another sweep, defeating Saint Joseph's 7-0 on Sunday.
  • Katie Garofolo-Ro was named the BIG EAST Women's Player of the Week on Monday for her performances over the three-match stretch. Garofolo-Ro went a perfect 3-0 in No. 3 singles and picked up straight-set wins in all of her matches.
  • Freshmen Ruhika Bhat and Julia Chu lead the squad with eight singles wins apiece, followed by Garofolo-Ro and Paige Gilbert with seven each.
  • Chu leads Georgetown with seven doubles wins.
