Georgetown Tennis Set for BIG EAST Quarterfinals Against Butler and UConn

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's tennis programs are set to compete at the 2026 BIG EAST Tennis Championships Presented by JEEP at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, South Carolina. Both the men and women earned the No. 4 seed and will open action in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals on Friday. Men's tennis will take on No. 5 Butler at 9 a.m., while the women face No. 5 UConn at 1 p.m.

About Georgetown Men's Tennis
  • Georgetown (7-14, 3-3 BE) closed out the regular season in dominant fashion after picking up 6-1 victories over Mount St. Mary's and Villanova last weekend. Arthur O'Sullivan, James O'Sullivan and Joshua Lamm-Bocharov went 2-0 in singles action across both matches.
  • Lamm-Bocharov leads the Hoyas with 10 singles wins, followed by J. O'Sullivan with nine. Both boast 4-2 marks against conference opponents this season.
  • J. O'Sullivan holds an 8-6 doubles record, while A.O'Sullivan and Lamm-Bocharov have seven wins apiece.
  • GU cruised to a 6-1 victory over Butler on March 13 at the Junior Tennis Champion Center, with J. O'Sullivan clinching the victory for the Blue & Gray.

  • Women's tennis (8-8, 4-2 BE) wrapped up the season on a four-match winning streak with wins over George Mason and Villanova last Friday and Saturday. The Hoyas captured a 4-0 victory over the Patriots and edged the Wildcats in a 4-3 thriller. Paige Gilbert battled back from a 0-4 deficit in the third set of No. 6 singles, winning six games in a row to clinch her match and the overall win against Villanova.
  • Ruhika Bhat leads the Hoyas with a 10-3 singles record, followed by Katie Garofolo-Ro (9-4), Julia Chu (8-6) and Gilbert (8-4). Garofolo-Ro and Bhat are both undefeated in conference play, with records of 5-0 and 4-0, respectively.
  • Chu leads Georgetown with eight doubles wins, while Emily Novikov has earned seven.
  • The Hoyas secured a narrow 4-3 victory against UConn on April 2 at the JTCC. Garofolo-Ro clinched the win for the Hoyas in No. 3 singles, winning 7-5, 6-4 against Victoria Matos.
  • No. 7 Georgetown defeated No. 10 Marquette, 4-2, in the first round of last year's BIG EAST Tennis Championship before being eliminated in the quarterfinals by No. 2 Xavier in a 4-0 loss.
