Field Hockey Opens BIG EAST Slate at Temple, Faces Rider

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's field hockey team kicks off the BIG EAST portion of its schedule as part of a two-game road trip this weekend. The Hoyas travel face Temple on Friday at 1 p.m. in Philadelphia before battling Rider in New Jersey on Sunday at noon

About the Hoyas

Georgetown went 1-1 last weekend to even their record to 3-3 on the season. The Hoyas fell 4-0 at Richmond before defeating William & Mary 3-2.
The win over the Tribe was the first for the Hoyas since 1998.
Riley Fitzgerald, Colleen Maloney and Caroline Suko each scored for the Hoyas with Tatum Johnson chipping in an assist.
Lindsay Morin was credited with a defensive save.
In goal, Ella Fahey (1-0) made her first start of the season and collected one save in the win against W&M.
On the year, Kate McManaman paces the Blue & Gray with nine points (3G, 3A) while Fitzgerald (2G), Suko (2G) and Izzy Lee (1G, 2A) all have four points.
In goal, Duff (2-3) has started five of GU's six games and holds a 1.91 goals-against average with 20 saves and a .667 save percentage. Fahey's first action of the year gives her a 2.00 GAA with one save and a .333 save percentage.

Scouting Temple

Friday's BIG EAST opener is slated for 1 p.m. in Philadelphia at the Temple Sports Complex.
Temple is 3-3 to start the year with wins over James Madison, Wagner and Rider along with losses to No. 13 Maryland, Lafayette and No. 19 Monmouth.
Lucia Magro leads the Owls with 12 points (5G, 1A) while Rozlyn Maciejewski has 6 (2G, 2A).
Alex Lepore (3-3) has played all but 15 minutes between the pipes for Temple and has a 2.10 GAA with 26 saves and a .684 save percentage.
Temple defeated Georgetown 2-1 in last year's meeting in the District. Lee scored the lone goal for the Hoyas while Duff had a pair of saves. The last victory for the Blue & Gray in the series came courtesy of a 1-0 win in 2021 in the Nation's Capital.

Scouting Rider

Sunday's game is set for noon in Lawrenceville, New Jersey at Ben Cohen Field.
The Broncs are 0-6 on the year – all on the road – and travel to face LIU on Friday. Sunday's game against the Hoyas is the home opener for Rider.
Emma Bonshak leads the Broncs with a goal and an assist for three points on the year while Amanda Walker has also scored once.
Jade Regnart (0-6) has played all but 15 minutes in goal for Rider and has a 3.42 GAA with 70 saves and a .778 save percentage.
Rider won the last meeting 4-3 in double overtime last season in D.C. Georgetown's last win in the series came 1-0 on the road in Lawrenceville in 2019.
