COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The No. 5/10 Georgetown University men's soccer team fell 3-2 to the No. 2/2 University of Maryland Terrapins on Monday evening at Ludwig Field in College Park, Maryland. With the loss, the Hoyas drop to 4-1-1 on the year, while the Terps stay perfect at 5-0 for the season.

- "When you come here, the game's got an energy to it that you have to manage, and we didn't manage it the first half. I thought Maryland was playing the game with the energy they wanted, and we never settled the game. I was happy with the way the guys fought really hard. I think the score line is maybe a little unfair for how the game went, but when you're on the road against Maryland, you have to find ways to quiet the crowd and get the game on your terms. We did a really good job of that in the second half, but unfortunately for us we weren't able to do that for 90 minutes."
How it Happened
- Georgetown struck first off of a set piece when senior Matthew Van Horn served in a ball that found the head of junior Mitchell Baker. Maryland keeper Laurin Mack stopped the shot, but the rebound went to a charging Tate Lampman who found the back of the net to make it 1-0 in the 16th minute.
- Just three minutes later, the Terps evened the score on a long shot from outside the box by Albi Ndrenika.
- Maryland took the lead in the 27th minute when a free kick clanged off of the post, but went to a Maryland player who hit a volley into the far corner of the net.
- The Terps would hold the 2-1 lead at the break.
- Georgetown had chances in the second half, but Maryland found one more in the 81st minute on a breakaway down the right side to move ahead, 3-1.
- The Hoyas pulled within one in the 85th minute when senior Eric Howard took it down the left side and fired to the far corner making the score 3-2.
- GU could not find the equalizer, and eventually fell 3-2.
Of Note
- Georgetown was outshot by Maryland, 14-8, and matched the Terps with six shots on goal.
- The Hoyas managed four corners in the game, and UMD tallied one.
- Junior Charlie DeMarco played all 90 minutes with three saves to his credit.
- This marked GU's fourth ranked opponent on the year.
