POSITION: Communications Assistant

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Georgetown University is currently accepting applications for a part-time assistant position (20+ hours per week) for a nine-month appointment in the Athletics Communications Department beginning August, 2025.
The communications intern will assist in the media relations and promotion of Georgetown's 30 NCAA Division I men's and women's athletic programs. The assistant will serve as a primary sport contact, responsible for overseeing each assigned program's brand, which includes the coaching staff and student-athlete. In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to writing press releases, compiling statistics and records for assigned sports, gameday management, developing content for GUHoyas.com and social media channels, fulfilling all NCAA and conference requests by developing and maintaining relationships with external entities, aid in the design process of publications and handling media requests from University and national outlets.
Outside of the primary sport responsibilities, the assistant will work with other sports including men's and women's basketball.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree is required, and experience in sports information, journalism or public relations is preferred. Strong writing skills, the ability to multitask while balancing multiple deadlines, effective communication skills and a familiarity with collegiate sports is essential. Experience with various statistical programs is beneficial, but not required.
PROJECTED START DATE: August 2025
COMPENSATION: This is an hourly, paid position and can be used as an internship for credit. Preference will be given to applicants in graduate school.
