POSITION: Intern, Academic Apprentice for Football Student-Athletes
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Enrolled in a Master’s Degree or other degree program; excellent written and verbal skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office; attention to detail. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling or Sport Management; customer service oriented; previous teaching experience
TERM: August 2022–May 2023
HOURS: 5-7 hours/week; must be available to supervise study hall five hours per week (days and times to be determined) and have flexibility in scheduling
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Academic Apprentice will assist the Associate Director of the Academic Resource Center for Student-Athlete Services in providing basic services to football student-athletes.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee and monitor study hall.
• Maintain study hall records.
• Reserve rooms for study hall as necessary.
• Coordinate alternate requirements in lieu of study hall (e.g., workshops).
• Meet with coaches as necessary.
• Miscellaneous administrative tasks.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working with student-athletes and/or who possess a teaching and/or counseling background. The incumbent will work under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Shelly Habel, Associate Director of the Academic Resource Center for of Student-Athlete Services.
