Before GU:Samela was a four-year letterwinner at Manhasset in field hockey and basketball as well as a three-year letterwinner in lacrosse...was captain of her field hockey team during her junior and senior seasons...Garnered honors in 2009, which included All State, Academic All-American, Team Scholar Athlete, Team MVP, and Second Team All-Long Island ...Named by Newsday as player to watch in 2008 and 2009...Alsoan All-County selection in 2008, All-County Honorable Mention in 2007, and All-Conference in 2006...named to Scholar-Athlete Team from 2006-2010...participant in Class C County (Nassau County) Finals from 2006-2010.
