Josie Formica joins the Georgetown staff as a Graduate Assistant Coach after finishing a four-year playing career at American University. Formica was a midfielder at AU, a two-time academic All-Patriot League team (2020-2021, 2021), and a four-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection.

Formica's career at AU ended with an NCAA tournament appearance and a Patriot League Championship. Formica appeared in 58 games during her four-year career and started in 41 of them. She registered seven goals and 21 shots during her time at AU and added two game-winning goals. Formica was a pivotal part of the AU conference championship team after starting all 17 games during the season.

While in high school and college, Formica has coached U10, U12, and U14 teams at her former club, Spark. She graduated from American University in the spring of 2022 with a degree in American Studies. She is currently enrolled in Georgetown's Engaged and Public Humanities program.

Josie's mother, Robyn Formica (' 91), and aunt, Karin Tator (' 95), are both Georgetown Field Hockey Alums. Formica attended the Severn School before attending American University in the fall of 2018. Â
