Prior to Georgetown:
- Swam for Villanova during his freshman year.
- Finished third in the 400 IM (3:52.30) at the 2024 BIG EAST championship and earned an All-BIG EAST honor.
- Captained his sophomore, junior and senior seasons at Mira Costa High School.
- Named team MVP in 2022 and 2023.
- Four year Academic All-American in high school.
- Three-time Bay League Champions (2023, 2022, 2023).
- Set a new record while becoming the Bay League Champion in the 200 IM.
- In addition to swimming, Tunila was a captain and starter on Mira Costa's Water Polo team.
- Tunila joins his brother Wilson Tunila and cousin Jack Brearton on the Georgetown men's swimming team.
