Helen Tau came to the Hilltop in 2017 as the director of video operations after working at the University of Texas at Austin as a graduate assistant for two seasons. She oversees all of the video for the team and also works on the squad’s social presence.
At Texas, Tau did video breakdown and scouts for the coaching staff. She also created a metric system to evaluate player performance during both games and practice.
Tau was no stranger to the Longhorns after serving as a student manager for one season as an undergrad. Her senior year, she walked onto the team and earned an athletic scholarship for her final semester.
Tau has vast basketball experience coaching with Texas Elite Basketball as well as coaching with Westlake Hoops. She also served as a program coordinator for The Shorthorns helping with gameday operations as well as an operations intern for the Austin Spurs of the NBA G-League.
A native of Lake Jackson, Texas, Tau graduated from Texas in 2014 with a degree in business honors and finance. She then got her master’s degree in sport management in 2017.
Tau resides in Arlington, Virginia.
