Abbey Piaget joined Georgetown University as the Varsity Lightweight Women’s Coach in March of 2022 following a successful tenure as the Assistant Lightweight Women’s Coach from 2017 to 2021.
Since taking the lead, Piaget has helped bring multiple medals to the hilltop throughout the competition season. In the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Piaget helped bring home the first back to back IRA Championship medals in the Varsity 8+ category - a silver medal in 2022 and a bronze medal in 2023. In 2023 the team also finished with its highest overall team points ranking, coming in third at the IRA National Championship. Additionally, at the teams most important regular season competition, Eastern Sprints, Piaget lead the team to three consecutive top three finishes: silver in the Varsity 8+ in 2022, bronze in the Varsity 8+ & Varsity 4+ in 2023 and bronze in the Varsity 2x in 2024.
In her time as the Assistant Coach, Piaget focused on training and developing the lightweight V4+ and V2x. Under her tutelage, these boat classes were able to bring home two IRA National Championship medals and two Eastern Sprints medals.
Off the water, Piaget had the honor of coaching one CRCA Lightweight Women’s All-American Athlete (2024), one CRCA Lightweight Women’s Athlete of the Year (2023), two CRCA Pocock All-American Athletes (2023) and thirteen IRA All-Academic Team Athletes (2023).
Abbey Piaget graduated from The University of Texas in 2014 where she was a member of the women’s rowing team. She helped lead the Longhorns to two-consecutive Big XII Championships and one Conference USA Championship. Piaget began coaching at the Texas Rowing Center in Austin, Texas, in 2012. She coached the Juniors Recreational Program, the Intro to Rowing Program for adults and the non-competitive Summer Juniors Program, as well as individual private rowing lessons.
During the 2013-14 season, Piaget was the Assistant Junior Novice Girls Coach and took the helm as the Head Junior Novice Girls Coach for the 2014-17 seasons. She joined Texas Crew, the University of Texas Women's Club Rowing Team as the Head Novice Women's Coach for the 2016 Spring season where she doubled the size and strength of the program. During the 2017 spring season, Piaget led the novice women to their first showing at the finals of the SIRA National Championships.
