Kendall Mulligan

Kendall Mulligan was named as the head coach of the Georgetown University women’s rowing team in July of 2018. She has seen success in her time on the Hilltop with the Blue & Gray taking a program-best second place finish at the Patriot League championships in her the 2025 season to seeing multiple medals at the IRA National Championship and winning the points trophy at the Dad Vail Regatta in 2024 & 2025. Mulligan was also the Inaugural recipient of the Kate Godwin Award for Dad Vail Coach of the Year Award 2025. Additionally, Mulligan and her staff were awarded the Outstanding Coaching Achievement Award from the Georgetown University Department of Athletics in the spring of 2025.

Under her tutelage, 161 student athletes have been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, 4 students named to the Patriot Academic All League Team, and 10 students named to the Patriot All League Conference Rower list. In addition, 93 students have been named to the CRCA Scholar Athlete list and 2 students have been named IRA Student Athletes of the year.

In 2025, she led a historic showing at the PATL Women's Rowing Championship, winning bronze in the 1V4 and 1V8, marking the program’s first-ever medal in the 1V8, along with a program-best gold in the 2V8. Her contributions helped the team achieve its highest-ever finish with second-place overall.

In 2024, Mulligan was part of a dominant team performance that secured the Nancy J. Seitz Women's All Points Trophy. The team claimed first-place finishes in the WV8, W3V8, W2V4, and WLV8, along with a bronze medal in the 2V8 at the PATL Championship. They went on to repeat as All Points Trophy winners at the 2025 Dad Vail Regatta, highlighted by multiple gold, silver, and bronze finishes across key events.

In 2022 and 2023, she led the W Club 4+ to a second-place finish at the 2022 Head of the Charles Regatta. Later that spring, she secured a bronze medal in the 1V4 at the 2023 PATL Women's Rowing Championship.

In 2021 and 2022, Mulligan led the W Club 8+ to a third-place finish at the 2021 Head of the Charles Regatta. She followed that performance by helping the 1V8 win the Ann Harris Smith Memorial Trophy at the 2022 Knecht Cup Regatta.

In 2019, Kendall Mulligan helped the program make history by earning its first-ever medal in the 2V8+ with a bronze at the PATL Women's Rowing Championship. She also captured a bronze in the 1V4, contributing to what was, at the time, the program’s best overall team finish, third place.

Mulligan came to the Hilltop following four seasons as the head coach and director of rowing at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Tabbed the interim head coach for both the men’s and women’s programs in 2014, she was elevated to head coach at the conclusion of the 2015 spring season. Mulligan also spent time as a United States Women’s Junior National Team Development Camp assistant coach in 2017 and served on the NCAA Women’s Rowing Committee as well as the championship committee of the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC).

Mulligan guided the Diplomats to national prominence, including a No. 15 ranking in the USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Poll during the 2017 campaign and back-to-back second place finishes at the MARC Championship in 2016 and 2017. Under her watch, 25 rowers garnered All-MARC honors, 34 were named Academic All-MARC and she coached just the second CRCA All-American in program history in 2016.

In addition to her success on the women’s side, Mulligan also led the men’s team to a fourth-place showing at the 2018 MARC’s.

Mulligan graduated magna cum laude from Washington (Md.) College in 2012 with a degree in art history. She was a four-year member of the women’s rowing team, twice earning MARC All-Conference recognition and three-straight CRCA Scholar Athlete honors as well as a trio of MAAC All-Academic honors. She led the Shorewomen to conference championships in 2009 and 2011 as well as an appearance in the NCAA National Championship Regatta. Mulligan also earned her master's degree at Georgetown University in 2021 with a Master's of Sports Industry Management.

Mulligan was recognized as a Hoya Professional 30 Under 30 in the spring of 2021, and ia a member of both Phi Beta Kappa, Pi Delta Phi and Omicron Delta Kappa. She is certified in USOC Safe Sport and Mental Preparation, USRowing Level I, II and III, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction from the UMass, Center for Mindfulness and  was a part of the NCAA's Women’s Coaches Academy Class number 48.
