Charlie Ludwick

  • Title
    Assistant Coach - Hitting Coach
Charlie Ludwick was hired in August 2026 as an assistant coach for the baseball program
by Georgetown Baseball Head Coach Edwin Thompson. Ludwick comes to the Hilltop
after spending the past season coaching at Georgia Southern University, and the prior 8
years playing and coaching at Eastern Kentucky University.

Ludwick, a switch-hitting corner infielder during his college career, played under
Thompson for 2 seasons (2019 and 2020) at Eastern Kentucky. After Thompson left
EKU to become Head Baseball Coach at Georgetown, Ludwick completed his playing
career with the Colonels during the 2021-2023 seasons. He earned a bachelor’s degree in
business in 2022, and an MBA in 2023.

Ludwick joined the coaching staff at Eastern Kentucky in the fall of 2023 as a Graduate
Assistant. He developed a love for coaching during this time, as he became responsible
for working with individual hitters, preparing the pregame scouting reports for the
offense, and coaching first base. He remained on staff at EKU for the 2024-2025 season,
moving to role focused on player development role and analytics. At Georgia Southern
University in the fall of 2025, Ludwick once again was involved with all aspects of the
Eagles’ offense, not only working with hitters individually but also preparing video
analysis of hitters and opposing pitchers, as well as scouting reports for the team.
Ludwick also worked with the infielders for the Eagles.

Ludwick has also coached for the past 3 summer seasons (2023-2025) for the Valley Blue
Sox of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL). During these summer
seasons, Ludwick served as hitting coach, worked with the infielders, and was actively
involved in game management decisions. Ludwick helped lead the Blue to multiple
playoff appearances and top 2 finishes in total offense in the NECBL.

During Ludwick’s career at EKU, the Colonels spent 3 seasons years in the Ohio Valley
Conference and 2 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Ludwick was a regular starter during
his career at first base and third base, helping the Colonels to 132 wins and appearances
in the OVC and ASUN Tournaments. He served as a team captain and a leader
offensively and defensively. Offensive highlights included 35 career home runs, batting
7-for-14 in the 2022 ASUN Tournament, and hitting 3 home runs in a game vs. Liberty in
2023 during a crucial stretch run for the team. Defensive highlights included in stellar
2022 season in which Ludwick made just 2 errors while starting every game at the corner
infield positions. Ludwick was personally coached during his time at EKU by 4 different
coaches who went on to coach for the Athletics, Rockies, Brewers, and Diamondbacks in
his time at EKU. Ludwick stated, “being at EKU has put me in front of some of the best
up-and-coming coaches who have taught me everything they know.” He is thrilled to
join the Georgetown baseball program as hitting coach.
