Dr. Chad Asplund is a board-certified family and sports medicine physician with over two decades of clinical, academic, and leadership experience. He currently serves as the Head Team Physician and at Georgetown University.
Dr. Asplund has extensive experience working with professional, collegiate, and Olympic athletes, including current roles as Lead Team Physician for the WNBA’s Washington Mystics, and previous roles as Medical Director for USA Basketball’s Junior National Team and Team Physician for USA Hockey Women’s National Team. He has also served as Head Team Physician for Georgia Southern University and an Assistant Team Physician at The Ohio State University.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Asplund has held executive and academic roles as Executive Director of the U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health, Professor of Family Medicine and Orthopedics at Mayo Clinic, and Sports Medicine Fellowship Director at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. He is a recognized leader in sports medicine education and policy, having served as President of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) and currently on the Board of Trustees of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
