Erin Pettinger joined the Hoya sports medicine staff in the fall of 2011. Her primary sport responsibilities are men's and women's golf as well as men's lacrosse, along with a variety of administrative duties.

Pettinger received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training at the University of Nebraska. She was a student athletic trainer with Nebraska football, track and field, men’s and women’s tennis and cheerleading. She then attended the University of Miami, earning a Master's of Education in sports administration. While at Miami, Pettinger served as an athletic training graduate assistant for the football and men's and women's tennis programs.

Before coming to the Hilltop, Pettinger was an assistant athletic trainer at Duquesne University working with the baseball, women's lacrosse and volleyball teams then moved on to be an assistant athletic trainer at University of South Carolina overseeing volleyball and softball. She also completed a spring training internship with the Washington Nationals. Most recently, Pettinger was the head athletic trainer for the gold medalist U.S. Team at the 2022 World Lacrosse Men's U21 World Championship in Limerick, Ireland. She also was the head athletic trainer with the silver medalist 2024 U.S Men's Indoor (box) Lacrosse team in Utica, New York. Â

A clinical instructor for a variety of national universities, Pettinger is certified in Grastons Module 1, NASM CES and Kinesiotaping (KT 1, 2, 3). She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the District of Columbia Athletic Trainers' Association. Pettinger holds DC and MD licensure.

A native of Beatrice, Nebraska, Pettinger currently resides in Arlington, Virginia.
