Jeff Messman joined the Georgetown University athletics department in September of 2016 and was promoted to Director of Athletics Communications in 2021. He is the primary contact for the field hockey, squash and men's lacrosse programs. 

Along with his current duties, Messman has also served as the primary contact for the volleyball, men's golf, men's and womens' swimming & diving, and men's and women's rowing teams as well as the men's basketball team during the 2018-19 season that culminated with third-place BIG EAST regular season finish and an NIT bid. He also helped launch and produce the inaugural season of the “Center Court with Patrick Ewing” weekly show on SiriusXM ESPN Radio in 2019.

Messman has nearly 20 years of experience as an SID across all three NCAA divisions. Prior to his time on the Hilltop, he served as the sports information director at nearby Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia, from 2010-14. With the Saints, Messman oversaw all media relations, marketing, publications, statistics, game operations and website management for 17 NCAA Division III sports. In addition he oversaw the implementation of a new athletics website, introduced live statistics and video streaming for home events and was responsible for creating, developing and maintaining Marymount's social media strategy for athletics. He also served on the homecoming, university technology and Athletics Hall of Fame committees. 

Prior to Marymount, Messman was the assistant SID at Lynn University, a Division II program in Boca Raton, Florida, from 2006-10. He served as the contact for the nationally-ranked volleyball, men's basketball, softball, and men's and women's tennis programs. With the Fighting Knights, Messman served as the media coordinator for the 2007-10 NCAA South Region Men's and Women's Tennis Championships and coordinated the media efforts for the 2007 Division II Men's Tennis National Championship team. He was also honored with the 2008 AVCA Grant Burger Media Award as the top volleyball SID in the NCAA D-II South Region. 

Messman's first stop in the collegiate realm was at then-Division I Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport from 2004-06. He was the primary contact for baseball, women's basketball as well as men's and women's golf, soccer and swimming. He served as an official scorer for the Shreveport Sports of the Independent League in the summer of 2005 and volunteered his services at the 2005 LHSAA Nokia Sugar Bowl Prep Classic that relocated to Independence Stadium after Hurricane Katrina. 

A native Washingtonian, Messman attended Penn State before graduating from Marymount in 2003 with a degree in communications. During his studies, he interned with the Washington Freedom of the now-defunct Women's United Soccer Association during their 2003 championship season. Messman earned his Master's of Professional Studies in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown in 2022.

Messman and his wife, Jenna, currently reside in Rockville, Maryland with their son Trace and daughter Johanna.
