Scarlett Schneider, Ph.D. came to the Hilltop in May of 2019 as the new Senior Director of Development, Athletics after leading the fundraising arm of the West Virginia University Cancer Institute.

Dr. Schneider is no stranger to athletics development having significantly advanced athletics fundraising goals at numerous universities in her career. She has served as the executive director of athletics development at the University of Pennsylvania, the senior executive director of development and associate athletic director for George Washington University, the director of athletic development at the University of Delaware and held similar positions at The Ohio State University as well as Virginia Tech.Â

Highlights from Dr. Schneider's various tenures include creating the Buff and Blue Fund at GW, surpassing fundraising goals in multiple fiscal years at Penn and managing record growth in dollars raised at Delaware. In addition, she is incredibly active in the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD) serving in a number of positions including president (2016-17).

Dr. Schneider has been in university fundraising for more than 25 years. In her most recent stint at WVU, she surpassed goals and also partnered with the athletics department on signature events.

The Virginia Tech graduate holds three degrees from the institution. She earned her bachelor's degree in marketing education and a master's in sports management. She later received her doctorate in education administration and higher education.
