Burns joined the Hoyas in July 2022 and will oversee the team’s defensive line, assisting in recruiting Texas (West Dallas), Central Florida, North Florida and St. Louis, Missouri.
He comes to the Hilltop after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Temple University and Colorado State, assisting in defensive linemen development.
With Colorado State, Burns helped the defensive line lead the FBS in team tackles for loss with 10.5, rank fourth with 4.0 team sacks and 12th in rushing defense, allowing 108.5 yards per game.
The Massachusetts native also spent a season as the special teams coordinator and defensive line coach with his alma mater, Tufts University, where he started all four years at defensive end and recorded 10.5 tackles for loss.
Burns graduated from Tufts in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in community health and a minor in economics before returning for his master’s in healthcare management & policy.
