Georgetown University Athletics

Dan O'Neil was named deputy director of athletics for external affairs in August of 2021. He serves as the sport administrator for men’s basketball, men's golf, women's lacrosse and men’s soccer. During his time as a sport administrator, he has been directly involved with 22 BIG EAST Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships in five different sports (men’s basketball, men’s golf, women’s golf, men’s soccer and women’s soccer).

He also is a member of the department's Executive Team and manages day-to-day operations with directed focus on external areas.  He provides guidance and support to the administrative and coaching staffs, and sport oversight consultation to other administrators.

O'Neil has been a regular member of the BIG EAST Golf Championship Committee holding various roles since 2009, serves on the BIG EAST Marketing Council and other key league initiatives.  As a member of the Georgetown community he was appointed to the Benefits Advisory Committee in 2009, and serves on the Licensing Oversight Committee as well as the Visual Identity Task Force.

As a faculty member in the Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies, O'Neil is a past professor of marketing in the Sports Industry Management program as well as serving as a capstone advisor. O’Neil graduated from the Georgetown SAGE (Shaping and Advancing Georgetown Executives) program in 2015. He is a 1991 graduate of Marquette University.
