Lee Rumpf

Lee Rumpf joined the Georgetown men's rowing coaching staff in August of 2016 serves as the varsity coach of the lightweight squad. 

In his first season at the helm, Rumpf guided the Hoyas to qualify three boats at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championship including the First Varsity 8+ appearance since 2013. The Blue & Gray also posted boats in the 4+ and 4- events. In addition, five members of the lightweight squad were named to the 2017 IRA All-Academic Team (IRA). 

Rumpf comes to Georgetown after serving as an assistant coach at George Washington University for three years. In 2015, he helped guide the Colonials post final national rankings of No. 22 for the Varsity 8, No. 15 for the Second Varsity 8 and No. 16 for the Third Varsity 8. He led the Third Varsity 9 to a 5-1 duel record in 2016 finishing 11th in the country at the IRA National Championships. 

Prior to GW, Rumpf coached a number of Washington, D.C. teams. With Thompson Boat Center (TBC), Rumpf guided crews to national championships and podium finishes at the Royal Canadian Henley. He also served as the freshmen coach at St. Alban's School in spring of 2012 and has assisted with the Walt Whitman High School crew teams. 

An Arlington, Virginia native, Rumpf graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 2012 with a degree in political science. He rowed for Georgetown Head Coach Luke Agnini, who was an assistant coach for the Bears at the time. Prior to his time in the Bay Area, Rumpf rowed locally for Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, leading the Colonials to a pair of Stotesbury Cup victories, a Scholastic National Championship and competing at the Henley Royal Regatta.
