Football Names Rattay, Ulrich Assistant Coaches

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Georgetown University football team has announced that Dan Rattay and Rick Ulrich have joined the staff. Rattay will serve as the defensive coordinator, while Ulrich will take over as the offensive coordinator/receivers coach. In addition, Joe Moorhead will become the quarterback coach. Moorhead was the running backs coach last season.

Rattay comes to GU after serving as the defensive coordinator for six years at Johns Hopkins. He was a member of current GU Coach Bob Benson's first staff at Georgetown before moving to Johns Hopkins. Prior to that, Rattay coached at Albany (N.Y.). He is a 1991 graduate of Susquehanna.

Ulrich was an assistant coach at Pennsylvania the last six seasons. He was the wide receivers coach and was the special teams coordinator at Penn. Ulrich has had a number of assistant coaching positions, including stints at the U.S. Military Academy, Fordham University and Princeton among others. He was a graduate assistant with coach Benson at Albany. Ulrich graduated from Westchester in 1985.

The positions came open after John Walsh and Kenny Lucas resigned. Walsh, the inside linebackers coach, became the defensive coordinator at Tufts, while Lucas took the head coaching position at Gonzaga High School.

In other coaching news, Scott Smith, the assistant field hockey coach, resigned to pursue other opportunities.
