Georgetown Football Announces Recruiting Class

WASHINGTON, DC - Head Coach Bob Benson has announced the signing of 29 student-athletes who will attend Georgetown University and play football in the fall. The Hoyas begin play in the prestigious Patriot League this upcoming season.

On the offensive side of the ball, Benson and his staff signed 17 players. The offensive line will have the most newcomers with five new additions this season. Mark Dickson (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly), Ryan Goethals (Shelby Township, Mich./Brother Rice), Dan Reiss (Bradenton, Fla./Manatee), Ben Stewart (Orlando, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) and Frank Terrazino (Needham, Mass./Needham) are all capable players. The group averages just under 270 pounds per player. Terrazino is the biggest of all the recruits, weighing in at 290 pounds. GU will have two new tight ends on campus, with Ryan Franken (Carol Stream, Ill./Driscoll Catholic) and Jordan Jarry (Nashua, N.H./Nashua).

The Hoyas have added a number of new players at the skill positions. Benson has signed four running backs and four receivers. The receivers are Craig Agnello (Glen Rock, N.J./Glen Rock), Kurt Bennett (Burlington, Mass./Belmont Hill), Dan Paulus (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers) and Janiero Wooten (Oxon Hill, Md./Oxon Hill). Paulus joins his brothers Dave and Matt. Dave was the starting quarterback as a sophomore and Matt is a freshman linebacker. The backs are Daryl Collier (Natrona, Pa./Highlands), Ryan Joyce (Longwood, Fla./Lawrenceville), Michael Patterson (Ft. Washington, Md./St. Stephens-St. Agnes) and John Sims (Monaca, Pa./Center). Andrew Crawford (Louisville, Colo./Fairview) is the only quarterback the Hoyas signed, while Bryan Bobo (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Dwyer) is a kicker who was the only newcomer to the special teams.

The Hoyas staff had 12 defensive players commit to GU, including four players on the defensive line. They are Jon Cummings (McLean, Va./Kent School), Andy McCoy (Hookstown, Pa./Southside Beaver), Michael Moore (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) and Nicholas Rojo (West Palm Beach, Fla./Cardinal Newman). The three new linebackers are Colin Flynn (Wellesley, Mass./Roxbury Latin), Kyle Joyce (Longwood, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) and Brandon Small (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern). Joyce is an inside linebacker, while Flynn and Small play on the outside. The other recruits on defense are all defensive backs. They include Byron Anderson (Montgomery Village, Md./DeMatha), Tim Banks (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway), Jason Carter (New Brunswick, N.J./New Brunswick), Mark Clark (Washington, Pa./Washington) and Brett Walter (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington).

"We are very pleased with the group of young men that will be coming to Georgetown in the fall," said Head Coach Bob Benson. "The move to the Patriot League has certainly had a positive impact on our ability to recruit and we are very excited about the talent level of this recruiting class. We are looking forward to their arrival on campus."
