WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Georgetown University football team has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2002 season. GU enters its second season in the Patriot League and will play 11 regular season games. The season opener will be against 2001 Patriot League Champion Lehigh University. The Hoyas, under the direction of 10-year head coach Bob Benson, graduated 17 players last year and returns eight starters on offense and five on defense.
GU will play two of its four non-conference games at home this season. The Hoyas will face former conference rivals, Fairfield and Marist at home and will travel to Miami and North Carolina to play Florida International and Davidson, respectively.
Georgetown begins its seven game Patriot League schedule on the road on September 7 when they match up against Lehigh. In addition, the Hoyas will travel to Lafayette, Colgate and Towson. On September 14, GU has their first home game against Holy Cross. Georgetown will also host Fordham and Bucknell at Kehoe Field.
