Sebring, Fla.-- This past weekend, the Georgetown University women?s golf team spent the end of their spring break in Sebring, Florida, where they participated in the 4th Annual Springlake Classic. The squad from Lynn University won the tournament, which was hosted by Northern Illinois University on March 8th and 9th, with a two-day total of 625 strokes. At the end of the two-day, 36-hole spread, Georgetown?s collective total stood at 660, which was good enough for ninth place among the 11 teams that took part in the tournament. The Hoyas shot a 331 on Friday and then shaved two strokes from that total for a team score of 329 on the second day of the tournament.
The top individual performances for Georgetown came from freshman Connie Isler (Fort Meade, Md./Meade) and sophomore Heather McDermott (Newport Beach, Calif.), both of whom finished their 36 holes in 164 strokes. This mark, 12 strokes over the tournament?s best score, tied Isler and McDermott with three other golfers for 25th place among the tournament?s 66 individual participants. Sophomore Gilliam Feh (Locust Valley, N.Y.), freshman Lauren Frazer (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck), and sophomore Jill Haak (Baltimore, Md.) rounded out the Hoya?s top five with two-day totals of 168, 169, and 173, respectively.
Georgetown women?s golf is on the greens again this Saturday and Sunday, when they travel to Burlington, NC for the Elon University Invitational.
