Washington, DC - Georgetown University football player Kim Sarin (Roseville, Minn./Cretin-Derham) was named the recipient of the Patriot League?s Football Rookie of the Week award for the week ending September 15, 2002. It is the first Patriot League award of the season for Sarin and marks the fifth Rookie of the Week award GU has won in two seasons.
Sarin played in his second career game as a Hoya during GU?s outing against Holy Cross on September 14, 2002. He led both teams in rushing, compiling 92 yards on 10 carries. Sarin gave Georgetown its first lead of the 2002 season when he carried the ball 14-yards into the endzone early in the second half putting GU up 12-6. He broke off a 58-yard scamper two plays prior to the touchdown run helping setup the score. Sarin also returned three kickoffs for 72 yards. He ended the day with 167 all-purpose yards.
Georgetown played two top 25 ranked teams to start the 2002 campaign, #3 Lehigh and #25 Holy Cross, and currently are 0-2. The Hoyas host former MAAC rival Fairfield this Saturday, September 21, 2002 at 1 p.m. on Harbin Field for GU?s Homecoming weekend.
