The Skinny
The Hoyas and the Big Red will meet for the first time in history today. It also marks the first Ivy League opponent Georgetown has faced in over 65 years. Both teams are on opposite streaks as the Hoyas have won two straight while Cornell has dropped three in a row. Cornell owns a 1-1 mark against Patriot League opponents thus far in 2003, defeating Bucknell (21-19) and falling to Colgate (27-24).
The Hoyas? offense and defense have both played complete games the past two outings. GU?s offensive combination of quarterback Andrew Crawford and wide receiver Luke McArdle have connected for nine passing touchdowns in 2003, with eight of those strikes over 30 yards. The defensive pressure has been led by the linebacking duo of William Skultety and Andrew Clarke. Combined they have 100 of Georgetown?s 422 total tackles (23.7%) and rank #8 and #10 in the Patriot League standings.
Cornell is allowing 256 yards on the ground and has been giving up 403 total yards per game. In the first half of games this year the Big Red has been outscored 63-21. Senior captain Mick Razzano quarterbacks the offense and has hit 70-of-140 passes for 711 yards and two TDs. His favorite target is wide out John Kellner who has 17 snags on the year for 187 yards.
