WASHINGTON, D.C. ? Despite a great performance by freshman diver Terry Huang (S. Pasadena, Calif./ Loyola of L.A.), the Georgetown men?s swimming and diving program dropped a dual meet to Loyola College, 136.5-104.5, Saturday at McCarty Pool.
Huang claimed first place finishes in both the 1 mtr (206.85) and 3 mtr (207.68) competitions to contribute 18 points to the team scoring. The Hoyas were also helped by the strong efforts of junior Kevin Walsh (Bethesda, Md./ Saint Anselms), who earned second place finishes in the 100 yd butterfly (54.77) and 100 yd backstroke, and also swam on Georgetown?s winning 200 yd medley relay (1:43.25).
Sophomore Kevin Rieffel (Ambler, Pa./ La Salle College High) placed second in the 1000 yd freestyle (10:23.62) and tied for third in the 500 yd freestyle (5:05.79). Freshman Josh Bair (Albuquerque, N.M./ Albuquerque Academy) also posted two-three finishes on the day, with a second-place effort in the 200 yd freestyle (1:51.29) and a third-place mark in the 100 yd butterfly (57.13).
Georgetown is next scheduled to compete on Nov. 1, at an away meet against the University of Delaware.
