NEWARK, Del? The Georgetown men?s and women?s swimming and diving teams traveled to the Newark, Del., on Saturday for a dual meet against the University Delaware, and despite some solid individual efforts, the Hoyas were swept, 143-98 on the women's side, and 143-96 on the men's side, at Rawstrom Natatorium.
For the second consecutive meet, the performances of junior Kevin Walsh (Bethesda, Md./Saint Anselms), sophomore Katie Amaro (Shreveport, La./Loyola Prep) and the divers proved to be the main highlights for the Hoyas.
Walsh won the 200 yd butterfly in 2:02.39, and quickly followed that effort with a third-place finish in the 200 yd backstroke.
Amaro won the 500 yd freestyle in 5:11.72, placed second in the 200 yd freestyle (2:00.12), and assisted on Georgetown?s runner-up 400 yd medley relay (4:11.97).
Senior Juliana Bonilla (West Covina, Calif./Covina High) posted a first-place finish in the 3 mtr diving competition (208.54), and also placed second in the 1 mtr diving (216.22). Senior Kathryn Harrison (Morristown, N.J./The Hotchkiss School) won the 1 mtr diving (226.35), and placed third in the 3 mtr competition (203.97).
Terry Huang (S. Pasadena, Calif./Loyola of L.A.) won the men?s 3 mtr diving (213.07) and also notched a second-place finish in the 1 mtr competition (213.52).
Next up for the Hoyas is a meet on Nov. 9 against Seton Hall. The event is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Orange, N.J.
