Georgetown Football Announces Schedule for 2003 Season

WASHINGTON, D.C. ?The Georgetown University football team has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2003 season. GU, led by 11-year head coach Bob Benson, enters its third season in the Patriot League and will for the first time in the program?s history play 12 regular season games. The Hoyas host Patriot League opponent Colgate University at Harbin Field on September 6th to open the 2003 campaign.

One of the highlights next fall will be a trip to Lexington, Virginia on September 27 when the Hoyas face Virginia Military Institute of the Southern Conference. Georgetown also takes to the road for another out of leaguer in the Ivy?s Cornell Big Red on October 18th. The Hoyas play host to three non-league opponents, as Harbin Field will see Monmouth on September 20th, Stony Brook on October 11th and Davidson on November 15th.

A full slate of Patriot League opponents is also in front of GU next season. Georgetown takes road trips to Holy Cross on September 13 and then goes to Easton, Pa. for the second consecutive year to play Lafayette on October 4. Georgetown suits up against three straight League opponents toward the end of the year by hosting Lehigh on October 25, traveling to 2002 NCAA Quarterfinalist Fordham on Nov. 1 and then seeing Towson in Washington, D.C. on November 8. Georgetown closes the season on the road at Bucknell on November 22.

The Hoyas concluded the 2002 season winning four of their last six and ending the year with a 5-6 overall record and a 2-5 mark in their second year of Patriot League action.
