Hoya Tennis Places Six Athletes on National Academic Squad

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association named six Georgetown tennis student-athletes to its National Academic All American Team.

Led by graduating seniors Jordan Botjer (Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades) and Lara Madonia (Ramsey, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy), the women's team was also represented on the national team by rising sophomores Sana Malouf (McLean, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes), Eileen Boyle (Burr Ridge, Ill./St. Ignatius Prep (Chicago)) and Nora Gardner (Greenwich, Conn./ Deerfield Academy (Mass.)).

Eddie Carver (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy), class of 2007, was the lone member of the men's team to receive the national individual academic award.

Both the women's and the men's teams received the ITA National Academic Team Award. It is the ninth consecutive year the men's team has won the award, while the women notched their eighth award in nine years.

ITA National Academic All American individual honors are awarded to NCAA Division I student-athlete tennis players who achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the academic year. ITA National Academic All American team honors are awarded to teams that achieve an average of 3.2 or higher for the academic year.
