Terra Haute, Ind. - The Georgetown University men's and women's cross country team competed at the NCAA Pre-Nationals on Saturday. The race took place at the LaVern Gibson Course at the Wabash Valley FamilySports Center in Terre Haute, Indiana. The course is the site of the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships held on the Monday before Thanksgiving (11-21-05).
The Hoya men's team finished in third place overall with 22 points while the GU women finished in 19th place overall.
The men's team was the only BIG EAST school to finish in the top 15 in the Blue Race. The women's team was one of three BIG EAST schools to finish in the top 20.
Georgetown's senior Fleet Hower (Marion, Va./Marion) was the top Hoya finisher on the men's side. Hower completed the 8000 meter run seventh overall (23:56). Sophomore Matt Debole (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mt. Tabor) (15:13) and Charlie Millioen (Blue Point, N.Y./St. Anthony's) (15:24) rounded out the team's top three.
On the women's side, junior Elizabeth Maloy (Loudonville, N.Y./The Academy of Holy Names) was the top GU finisher. Maloy finished 35th overall with a time of 10:23 over the 6000 meter run. Sophomore Maggie Infeld (University Heights, Ohio/Beaumont) (10:33) and senior Erin Henry (Glen Rock, N.J./Glen Rock) rounded out the team's top three.
