Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University men's cross country team is ranked 12th nationally in the latest Mondo NCAA Division I men's cross country poll, while the Hoya women's team ranked 19th nationally in the latest FinishLynx NCAA Division I women's cross country poll.
The Hoyas had a terrific performance last weekend at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University. The Hoya men's cross country team posted a first place finish while the Hoya women runners recorded a second place finish.
On the women's side, Elizabeth Maloy (Loudonville, N.Y./The Acad. of Holy Names) was the top overall finisher with a time of 20:28 over the 6K distance. The Hoya women's team second best finisher was Maggie Infeld (University Heights, Ohio/Beaumont) who placed 11th overall (20:53).
Sophomore Matt Debole (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mt. Tabor H.S.) finished fourth overall in the men's 8K race with a time of 23:59. Junior Charlie Millioen (Blue Point, N.Y./St. Anthony's), Brian Dalpiaz (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) and Chris Esselborn (The Woodlands, Texas/Woodlands) finished 22nd, 28th and 29th respectively.
The first place men's finish marked the third time that the Hoyas have won the Paul Short Invitational, while the GU women finished ahead of eighth-ranked Villanova and 15th-ranked Tennessee.
