WASHINGTON, DC - Georgetown University's women's golf team will be participating in the 2005 BIG EAST Golf Championships this upcoming weekend, April 22-24, held at the Warren Golf Course in Notre Dame, Indiana.
The Hoya women, seeded third in this tournament in this season, earn their third-consecutive bid to the four-team BIG EAST Women's Golf Championship under the direction of Head Coach Leland Keyser. The Hoyas finished fourth in 2003 and 2004, however, Georgetown is primed to make a run at the Conference title behind the leadership of senior Connie Isler (Annapolis, MD/Meade) and junior Christy Larrimore (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Spaulding). Isler has been the Hoyas' top finisher in the last four events of the spring season, while Larrimore, despite battling illness is averaging a 78.64 stroke average. The two GU golfers have combined for three top-10 finishes this season. Larrimore was the runner-up at the 2004 BIGEAST Championship. Joining Isler and Larrimore will be juniors Nicole Hayashi (Westlake Village, CA/Thousand Oaks) and Erin Cockren (Westfield, NJ/Westfield), and freshman Jenna Winokur (Springlake, NJ/Wall High School). Hayashi was the Hoyas' top finisher at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate Golf Tournament, while Cockren earned a 26th place finish at the Hoya Invitational. Winokur, who has enjoyed a solid freshman season on the Hilltop, tied for fourth place at the Buffalo Rock/Southern Shootout on March 1.
The first round of the tournament will begin at 8 a.m., Saturday morning, April 23. Round two begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, with the final round taking place on Sunday, April 24, beginning at 8 a.m.
