Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown indoor track and field team took part in the Patriot Games, hosted by George Mason on Saturday. The Hoyas had event wins in the women's triple jump, women's 4x400m relay and the men's shot put.
Junior Ashley Mondie (Washington, D.C./Milton Hershey) highlighted the Georgetown success winning the triple jump, being part of the 4x400m relay team and placing second in the long jump. In the triple jump, she posted a season best length of 40'7 3/4" (12.39m) and in the long jump she finished with a distance of 17'9 1/2" (5.42m). Meanwhile, Mondie teamed with sophomore Alex Baptiste (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon), junior Jayne Penn (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) and freshman Charlena Tillett (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) in the 4x400m relay for a time of 3:56.27.
Baptiste also qualified for the BIG EAST Championship in the triple jump with her fifth place jump of 37'2 1/2" (11.34m), while Penn has the second fastest collegiate time in the 400m at 58.36.
Senior Kim Malcolm (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) had a pair of third place finishes in the 800m (2:23.64) and the mile (5:12.21).
For the men, freshman Khyle Osborne (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) won the shot put with a season best distance of 50'6 1/4" (15.40m).
Fellow fresheman Terrell Gissendanner (Rochester, N.Y./Edison Tech) had three BIG EAST qualifying times with a second place finish in the 60m hurdles (8.51), a third place in the triple jump (45'1 3/4") and a fourth place in the long jump (22'3/4").
