Georgetown Cross Country Competes at IC4A and ECAC Championships

Bronx, N.Y. - The Georgetown University cross country teams took part in the 2006 IC4A and ECAC Championships on Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. The women's team was seventh at the ECACs, while the men did not post a team score at the IC4As.

At the ECACs, the women were seventh with 200 points, trailing champion Cornell (57 points), William & Mary, Villanova, Princeton, Maryland and Yale. Freshman Renee Tomlin (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) was the top Hoya finisher, placing 20th in a time of 18:37.7, followed closely by classmate Lauren Gregory (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) in 26th at 18:43.2. Sophomore Kailin Collins (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) and senior Nana Hanson-Hall (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) broke the top-50, finishing 46th (19:12.6) and 49th (19:16.0), respectively. Rounding out the scorers for Georgetown was freshman Amanda Walsh (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) in 72nd place with a time of 19:42.9.

Redshirt sophomore Brandon Bonsey (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) highlighted the men's performance at the IC4As, crossing the line in 25:29.6, 11th in the field. Freshman Sandy Roberts (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) was close behind Bonsey, but had to withdraw from the race late on the course, leaving the Hoyas one finisher short to post a team score. Other times for Georgetown includes freshman Alex Bean (Somers, N.Y./Somers) in 54th (26:19.7), classmate Owen Boyle (Manasquan, N.J./Manasquan) in 87th (26:50.6) and junior Scott Bastek (Saddle River, N.J./Delbarton) in 102nd (27:03.1).
